Extended Warranty, Anyone?

How many of you 6 readers of mine ever buy the extended warranty on electronic "stuff"? Well, I've said I should always buy them, because I always seem to use them! Let's see, there was the new transmission that my Civic (AKA "Vanity") needed, after the original warranty ran out. Whew! Then there was the desktop computer of mine that had the motherboard crash. I got a new (free!) computer. Whew again! Now this. . .Yesterday was yet another example of when I could say "aaahhh" & be happy I was paying an extra $5.99/month for the extra warranty program (or whatever fancy name they give it) from DirecTV. Anyone who knows me knows that I love TV. I love TiVo. I love having a TiVo in my living room AND a DVR in my bedroom. Imagine my horror to find that the TiVo in my living room has been acting up! It decides to restart while I'm in the middle of watching TV. If my TV has been turned off for awhile, when I do turn it on, the "powering up" screen is on. Too bad it doesn't really start, & it just gets stuck there (which requires me to pull the box out, pull out the power cord, count to 15, plug it back in, then wait about 6 minutes for it all to properly restart). But I digress. . .I did the math & I have saved myself money with DirecTV. They are sending me a new DVR so I won't have to pay the $300 or $400 for a new DVR. It's free. Whew!

SO-in 3 to 5 business days I should have a new DVR. I told him I wanted TiVo; it's more user-friendly than the DVR I have, but DirecTV is doing away with TiVo's. Too bad. I told myself, as Mina would say, "beggars can't be choosers" (I seem to remember her saying that in college a lot) so I will be happy with whatever "free" DVR they send me. And I'll have it just in time for Big Brother to start!!!

I guess I'm still under the false impression that beggars CAN be choosers. Dang it!
And, Miss, it looks like my blog is working today. I see my new post on my screen. What about you?? Maybe you need to clear your "cache" --I just learned about mine from blogspot!

Hmmmmm, extended warranty. I thought those only existed on cars. :D Anyways, yep, I would get one, anywhere you can protect yourself from having to incur unexpected trageties I would definitely get one. LOL He He. I am glad to hear that you bought a DVR, how is that different than a TIVO? I am so TV challenged. =)
