I'm Bored

How many of you live in Texas? How many of you are thinking "CRAP!!! I have never seen this much rain...ever!!!"? Seriously - how am I to get a summer tan if it rains every single day??? By tomorrow we will have broken the record from 1928 (11.58") for having the most rain in the month of June (we are currently 1/2" short of 1928's record). Earlier today I was on my couch, watching 90210, cuddling with the Chlo-meister, & we both jumped at a sound outside. It was rain (what a surprise). It just started pouring! It was actually bright & sunny outside, right before that (glad I didn't decide to lay out!). I guess I should be glad I'm not one of the 11 people who have died in the past 11 days, due to the flooding! Seriously...how does one get a summer tan when it rains every bucking day???

The DirecTV guy came this morning, just as planned, & fixed the broken coax cable. (I hooked up the new DVR yesterday morning & 1 of the 2 coax cables broke). YET AGAIN more proof that the service plan I've been paying for each month took care of today's service call. :) Yea!! The past 24 hours of watching TV & not being able to record one thing & watch another was very difficult. Now I'm back to happy times in front of my TV! I feel so spoiled!

Last night we had Mr. L's "going away" dinner at Uncle Julio's (I know you are jealous, Lindley!). There were 3 teachers from Bowie, plus my Neighba (our custodian who has happy hour with us once a month), a teacher from a high school in Irving, & my little bro. It was really fun! I had my brother laughing when I realized the Wilson kids were digging into the sopapillas like no otha!!! That must have made him feel badly, because he stopped. I kept on eating though. :) I told Neighba I wanted to exercise with her 2 times a week. She walks 4 laps at the Galleria (which equals 2 miles). I will call her to start next week. I'm also starting Yoga again next week, after taking 4 weeks off!!). I've actually missed it!

Can you tell I'm bored & really have nothing to write about? Hopefully next Tuesday I'll be able to start working again & that will keep me occupied 2 or 3 days a week, & will give me some extra money to prepare for VEGAS!!! :)

So, if you are bored too - feel free to send me an email & I will probably respond within 30 minutes (I might have to finish watching a TV show or something). lol :D

I Still Love Paris

Some of you may remember one crazy summer (school year too?) where some friends & I thought it would be fun to have an alias. "Paris" just seemed to fit me, I thought, because we have the same body type & are so HOT! (I'm pretty sure that was a joke). :D

Ok, ok, I admit, one reason I love her is the "stupid act" she gives when I watch the Simple Life. I love reading about her in US Weekly or TMZ.com. I love knowing about rich, pretty people. Am I jealous that she can go on shopping sprees whenever she wants? Maybe. But I wouldn't want her life, I know that.

How cute was Paris when she was released from jail & was walking toward her mom in the waiting car??? Thank goodness I have another DVR in my bedroom so that I was able to record Larry King tonight. I thought she seemed very humble on the interview. I did think she went to the old Paris ways when asked what she could change about herself - she said the way her voice changes when she is shy &/or nervous. Oh well. It's ok that she "didn't have a favorite Bible verse". If I was asked that, I admit I don't know the Bible well enough to have one to quote (& quoting John 3:16 is just too easy). I pray almost daily & am a Christian, but don't know the Bible well enough to quote. I'm sure a lot of people are the same way. On a negative note, I remember my friend Kidd (I'm sure you have heard him on the radio) talking about seeing videos of her doing drugs on the internet one night when he couldn't sleep & was online. Too bad on the interview Paris said she's never done drugs. Who should I believe???

So, for Paris' sake, & for my sake to keep loving her, I do hope she changes her ways. (I wouldn't mind the stupid act for the Simple Life, though). :) I hope she creates a transitional house for the women who are released from jail. I hope she doesn't drink & drive. I hope she speaks out about the dangers of drinking & driving. Time will tell.

Oh yeah - on another note, I had a note from Fed Ex (yea, Lindley!) :) on my door today that I have a package....my new DVR must be in! I think I'll go to my apartment office 1st thing in the morning. Maybe I'll change out of my PJ's first, I'm just not sure.

Extended Warranty, Anyone?

How many of you 6 readers of mine ever buy the extended warranty on electronic "stuff"? Well, I've said I should always buy them, because I always seem to use them! Let's see, there was the new transmission that my Civic (AKA "Vanity") needed, after the original warranty ran out. Whew! Then there was the desktop computer of mine that had the motherboard crash. I got a new (free!) computer. Whew again! Now this. . .Yesterday was yet another example of when I could say "aaahhh" & be happy I was paying an extra $5.99/month for the extra warranty program (or whatever fancy name they give it) from DirecTV. Anyone who knows me knows that I love TV. I love TiVo. I love having a TiVo in my living room AND a DVR in my bedroom. Imagine my horror to find that the TiVo in my living room has been acting up! It decides to restart while I'm in the middle of watching TV. If my TV has been turned off for awhile, when I do turn it on, the "powering up" screen is on. Too bad it doesn't really start, & it just gets stuck there (which requires me to pull the box out, pull out the power cord, count to 15, plug it back in, then wait about 6 minutes for it all to properly restart). But I digress. . .I did the math & I have saved myself money with DirecTV. They are sending me a new DVR so I won't have to pay the $300 or $400 for a new DVR. It's free. Whew!

SO-in 3 to 5 business days I should have a new DVR. I told him I wanted TiVo; it's more user-friendly than the DVR I have, but DirecTV is doing away with TiVo's. Too bad. I told myself, as Mina would say, "beggars can't be choosers" (I seem to remember her saying that in college a lot) so I will be happy with whatever "free" DVR they send me. And I'll have it just in time for Big Brother to start!!!

My Dinner Date

Isn't this face great?! :)

Tonight I had dinner with my most favorite roommate Melissa and her little girl Alex. We went to Gloria's for dinner. Too bad for us Melissa took my advice & went the "short way", all for us to end up in more 5:00 traffic, pass the restaurant (with no entrance to turn into the parking lot from that way), turn around in Kobe Steakhouse's (YUM!) parking lot, & go back to Gloria's. This might have been ok, had Alex not been screaming & crying from being all alone in the backseat. Once we pulled into a parking spot & got her out of her carseat, things couldn't have been better in Alex's world (& Melissa's & Angie's!). It was good to catch up with Melissa over yummy bean dip & salsa, while making faces & having them mirrored with Alex. I informed Melissa that although I may not be a sporty girl, I plan to make her unborn boy (who is due in 4 1/2 months!) sporty. I want to buy him his first pair of Nike's. She told me she would let me do that. Hmmm...dang that Melissa, using that psychology degree to trick me like that! :) Above are some pics that were taken of tonight. Notice that Alex has some new teeth that have grown in!

Chloe

Here's a pic of my favorite kitty in the world...Chloe. Sometimes she's known as the Chlo-meister, Baby Girl, Koie, etc. Let me give you her life story. I went to the animal shelter in Irving one weekend in 2001. I had decided I needed an animal, & why not a cat? I walked into the cat room, scanned the cats in cages, & saw an adorable gray cat staring so sweetly at me. I held her & knew she was THE ONE. She had singed eyebrow hairs & was really skinny. I decided I could take much better care of her! Now she is a nice, healthy, fluffy (some call her fat) :- cat that loves ME. She is scared of anyone else & will usually hide from people that come over (although she has been known to jump into Mr. Lopez's lap when he has the green blanket on him). My baby girl is now a big 6 year old (as of June 8). Some call me "crazy cat lady"...I call myself "Crazy Chloe Lady". :)

Summer Work

So here we are. . .it's summer! This means no more 7th graders, no more attitude adjustments, no more 30 minute lunches...whew! Too bad for me I've only had about 3 days of summer vacation. Besides working on the Assessment Committee this week for the school district, I've decided to keep myself busy and work part-time as a receptionist at a plastic surgeon's office in Dallas. I don't mind the extra jobs. It's bringing in much needed money. I have a beautiful younger sister getting married in August in the greatest city in the world (Las Vegas for those of you unsure of the correct answer for that). I also have a list of stuff I just NEED (want) to have.

Working for a plastic surgeon is quite interesting. Being around all this elective "stuff" starts putting ideas in my head! Luckily, needles are one thing I'm really scared of! Botox, for example, is done often, & is no big deal. It takes care of crow's feet, fine lines & wrinkles...wow. For you 4 people that will read this (thanks, Mom!), relax. I don't plan to get Botox!!! I'm just saying it's a totally different world from teaching!

Since this is my first ever blog entry, please make comments back to me!
